A Possible Reason
I was thinking about music playing in dreams without external stimuli and I think I found a solution to this problem. According to Freud, dreams are “the road to the unconscious.” So maybe if our unconscious has “music” playing then in our dreams. Remember I am not completely sure, this is just my hypothesis. But maybe this could be broadened. Every once in a while I will have certain aspects of my dreams from books. So maybe my unconscious was thinking about a book, so I had a dream from a book.

You're right maybe we do have brain music files that are filled with melodies and sounds. So, when we are in the unconscious state our brain tends to reach into those music files and take out sound effects to add on to our dreams. Very interesting huh?
