Hypnosis is a mental state or set of attitudes and beliefs usually induced by a procedure known as hypnotic induction, which is known as the power of suggestion. Hypnotic suggestion is one way to hypnotize a person. Hypnotic suggestion is delivered by a hypnotist, or by yourself. The hypnotist uses the power of suggestion to get the subject into a hypnotic state. Another hypnosis method is a drug induced one, by using flunitrazepam (roofies), scopolamine, or several others. Unfortunately, amnesia, loss of memory, can be a side effect of drug induced hypnosis.

From what I heard the only way to get a patient in a state of hypnosis is if the patient believes in it and wants to be in hypnosis. I wonder if in drug induced hypnosis, the patient can be in a state of hypnosis without any believe or consent.
ReplyDeleteHypnosis is such a cool topic to think about. I wonder if I am the type of person who is really suceptible to being hynotized. I learned about it in psychology this year and it amazed me how they could use it in medicine sometimes. I found out, however, that it is not very accurate and that new "memories" can be created on the spot by the patient since they are not fully consciously aware about whats going on.
